Players across the state will be able to place bets on traditional fantasy sports, such as football and basketball, as well as esports titles including the likes of League of Legends and Counter-Strike.
PrizePicks has been granted a temporary operating licence to offer daily fantasy sports in the state by the Indiana Gaming Commission.
The skill-based fantasy platform will offer a few different sports products, including National Football League (NFL), the National Basketball League (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB) and Formula 1.
However, there is a particular emphasis in the company’s marketing on basketball towards players in the state.
The PrizePicks team said: “As home to the NBA’s Indiana Pacers and the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, the arrival of PrizePicks and its industry-leading basketball offerings will be well received.”
This might be due to the fact that in its May 2023 Summary of Sports Wagering report, the Indiana Gaming Commission released details on how each sport fared in the state.
While customers betting on football drew in just under $2m, basketball games in Indiana accumulated a total of $72.0m in wagers.
Jason Barclay, PrizePicks Chief Legal Officer & Head of Public Policy, said: „Adding Indiana as a licensed state to our portfolio is an important benchmark for our organization as we continue to grow our national footprint.
“We are extremely grateful to the Indiana Gaming Commission for their collaboration and we hope that this license can be a model for other states with competitive gaming markets.“
A few weeks ago, PrizePicks also announced an exclusive partnership with BIG3, the 3-on-3 basketball league founded by Ice Cube.
Jon Ford, Indiana State Senator and President of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS), said: „As an author of the fantasy sports legislation in Indiana, I’m happy to see Indiana continue to be a leader in creating a successful regulatory environment for fostering innovation in the fantasy sports space.”
That wasn’t the only deal signed recently though, as
PrizePicks also announced a partnership with Atlanta United
earlier this year, too.
